Memories

Do you have a favorite person?

I have a few and I was fortunate to have one of them visit in August. My aunt, Frani, came into town for a couple of weeks. And if you know anything about me, you know I like to make memories while sharing food.

We managed to chow down at a few restaurants. Smash burgers and Belgum fries at Third Window Brewing were a hit with Frani. Then my daughter, Charlotte, suggested that we try Bettina for a pizza dinner. It did not disappoint! This restaurant will be added to my list.

One of Frani’s favorite spots in Santa Barbara is Hendry’s Beach. We headed there to have breakfast at the Boathouse with Charlotte, my good friend, Joanne, and my son’s girlfriend, Heather. It was a beautiful day for breakfast at the beach and then a little retail therapy.

We took a day trip to Los Alamos to visit Local Artisan Enterprise and have ice cream then continued to Solvang to visit Bella Farfalla.

The LA area family drove up to see Frani and their visit wouldn’t be complete without a barbeque. My husband, Greg, made pulled pork with Carolina mustard sauce and coleslaw. Charlotte and I made potato salad and Frani delighted us with her baked salmon.

Frani’s visit was rounded out with neighborhood walks with Moose, beach walks and a haircut by the lovely and talented Fay at Underground Hair Artists. As always, I didn’t want our visit to end, and many tears were shed at the airport.
